Gowanbank End of Year Update

An aerial image of the Gowanbank building and surrounding grounds and countryside in a golden light.

As 2023 draws to a close and we look forward to what the next year has in store for us here at Gowanbank, we thought we would look back at the year we’ve had. Take a look at our end of year update:

2023 in numbers

19 schools

14 youth groups and organisations

38 churches and Christian groups

17 SU Holidays and Weekends

1900+ children and young people

7200+ meals provided

5000+ bednights

We have a strong team of 6 permanent staff members plus a great team of regular support staff. In June, we waved goodbye to our gap year, Finlay, and had Brandon join the team for his gap year back in September.

We are currently advertising for a Cook to join our team. If you or anyone you know would be interested, head to our jobs page to find out more and apply.

Volunteer Support

The walls are yellow and there is a window at the back of the room looking out over an area of grass. We couldn’t do the work we do without our amazing team of volunteers. From cutting the grass, to painting, from cleaning, to cooking and serving meals, we are so grateful for every person who has given up their time over the last year to support the work we do.

Our amazing team of catering volunteers served over 7000 meals at Gowanbank this year. We are always looking for new volunteers to join the team here at Gowanbank and we are particularly in need of more catering volunteers. If this is something you think you could help with, please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you and see how you can help support the work here at Gowanbank.

The year ahead

We are looking forward to welcoming even more guests to the centre in the year ahead. From school residentials and activity days, to youth weekends and church retreats, to SU Holidays and Weekends, we have a busy year in store.

We still have some availability in 2024. If you would like to bring your church or youth group to Gowanbank, do get in touch. You can check our availability here. Get in touch for any offers.

Get involved

Here are some of the ways you can get involved:

We would really value your prayers. Sign up to our newsletter here to stay up to date with what’s happening at Gowanbank throughout the year. If you’d like to sign up to stay updated on where and when our monthly prayer meetings are happening, you can sign up here.

If you would like to volunteer your time, please get in touch and we can discuss how you can get involved.

As a charity we depend on generous support to develop the activities and facilities at our centres. Gowanbank itself was a gift! Please consider joining our team support programme, or making a one off donation to support our centre, if you are able.

You can support us with a one-off donation or set up a regular donation.

Thank you for all your support throughout 2023 and we look forward to what the future holds in 2024.
