Apart from the many volunteers, there are small number of staff team at Gowanbank. We would like to introduce you to Jennifer…
Jennifer Gibb is our Housekeeper at Gowanbank! If you are a person of detail, you cannot miss Jennifer’s touches at the centre, from the beautiful picture frames & curtains to the immaculate skirting boards. Not only that, Jennifer contributes a lot more – from welcoming guests, to serving food, to keeping checklists – she does it all with a servant heart and with a huge smile on her face. Jennifer is married to Stuart and they have 2 children – Robbie (4) & Annie (almost 3).
We asked Jennifer a few questions:
1st October 2018. I’ve known about Gowanbank all my life. As a child growing up in Newmilns, Gowanbank was actually a nursing home and I would come along with my Sunday school class on a Sunday afternoon to sing to the old folks in the home. A number of years later the Smith Family who have been family friends from childhood took over Gowanbank as their family home and Bed & Breakfast building. Once it was gifted to SU by the Smiths, I was extremely keen to volunteer in the work of creating a new SU centre, as SU HOLIDAYS were a part of my youth.
I love working for SU Scotland as ultimately, I see myself partaking in furthering God’s Kingdom and what a wonderful privilege and opportunity to do as my regular work. I love the variety of groups that come through the centre and how I can play a part in ensuring they have a wonderful experience here by ensuring they have a comfortable stay.
Friendly, fun and moody 😊
I cycled 500km over Northern Thailand for charity, although, I had no previous cycling experience, haha…
Anything relaxing..2 young kids take it out of you..jigsaws
Meeting so many different people. I’m quite a sociable person – so like to chat, probably more than I should.
That I continue to manage work/life balance with a young family.
